Star-lord is now forced to be back in charge. Also, Thanos finally unites with Death, which would've served a perfect ending for the character. And to further top this all, lady death comes for him, in form of Drax, also completing Drax's character arc and justifying his existence as a killer of Thanos. He also shows his super-smartness when he negotiates with 2 Galactus level beings, captures galactus, converts him into a planet-busting gun and a power source for annihilus's ship and army, and despite underestimating Annihilus, he still has a contingency plan in case something happens. He is led to this path by his love, lady death. He wonders what will happen if chaos is continued to run unchecked in the cosmos. Thanos craves knowledge and curiosity, is brutal as always, he's not a hero, not a villain, but his own unique self. Giffen Thanos's characterization was brilliant for a non-jim starlin comic. Next, continuation from the last Thanos solo series. Within a few months, the infestation of bugs spreads throughout the galaxy, and was implied to reach earth within a few more months. We see Kree galaxy being under the effects of this war. We get to explore corruption in their race like human politicians, we see a badass antihero like Ronan being developed and leading a charge against bugs. We see they view Honor and loyalty for their race above everything else. We get to see a side of them which was never seen before. Next, the Kree, smug space fascists, mostly at war with skrulls and sometimes humans. He finds allies thanks to his ruthless nature, comes back, and fiercely takes part in the war and became the hero of his people. He goes to the negative zone, the anti-universe. Being a jobber villain for most of his life, he decides to save the remaining of his race, and despite how they treated him, avenge their deaths. Only the skrull we are most familiar with - Super Skrull Kl'rt is now under the primary focus. They are capable of wiping out civilizations of superpowered and advanced tech in seconds if not minutes. How terrible!! But in Annihilation, they are faced with even more despicable things: The Annihiltion wave - green and grey bug armies which are seemingly unending. They are green, skinny, shapeshifting goblins, with wrinkles all over them. It took parts of marvel cosmics which we have known all over the years like skrull, Kree, Shi'ar etc, combined them against a threat which was largely mysterious (annihilus) while showing the untapped potential of this threat, made new heroes and did great job with characterization.įirst of all, we all were familiar with Skrulls as hateful despicable villains who needed to get their asses kicked everytime. Annihilation was one of the best things to ever happen in Marvel comics.
